TCS NQT 2026 — Everything You Need to Know
The TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT) is India's largest engineering recruitment test, conducted 3–4 times a year with 2–3 lakh candidates per cycle. Cracking it opens doors to a ₹3.5–7 LPA package at India's largest IT company. This guide covers the complete syllabus, section strategy, and preparation roadmap.
TCS NQT 2026 — Two Tracks
- TCS NQT Digital Track: Package ₹7 LPA | Higher cut-off in Coding section | Requires strong DSA skills
- TCS NQT Regular Track: Package ₹3.5–4 LPA | Lower cut-off | Aptitude-focused
You can attempt both in the same sitting — the exam automatically qualifies you for the best track you score for.
TCS NQT 2026 Syllabus
Section 1: Verbal Ability (24 minutes, 24 questions)
- Reading Comprehension (2 passages, 3–4 questions each)

- Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Directions
- Seating Arrangements, Syllogisms
- Series and Pattern completion
Section 4: Programming Logic (15 minutes, 10 questions)
- Output questions in C, Java, or Python
- Time & Space complexity identification
- Basic OOPs and recursion tracing
Section 5: Coding (45 minutes, 2 problems) — Digital Track
- One easy problem (Array/String manipulation)
- One medium problem (Sorting, recursion, DP basics)
- Partial marking available for partial test cases passed
Section-Wise Strategy
Verbal Ability — Target: 18+/24
Focus on grammar rules and RC comprehension speed. Practice 2 RC passages daily on Economic Times or Hindu editorial. Avoid guessing on vocabulary — elimination works better.
Numerical Ability — Target: 20+/26
This is where most candidates lose marks. Practice IndiaBIX quantitative aptitude daily. Focus on Percentages, Profit-Loss, and DI — these are highest-frequency topics in TCS NQT.
Coding — Target: 1.5/2 problems (Digital Track)
Solve 150+ LeetCode easy/medium problems before attempting. Even partial solutions score marks — write the function signature and handle edge cases explicitly.
Cut-off Scores (2025–26 Pattern)
- Regular Track: Approximately 57–63% aggregate
- Digital Track: 75%+ aggregate + both coding problems solved
6-Week Preparation Plan
- Week 1–2: Aptitude basics (IndiaBIX + RS Aggarwal)
- Week 3: Verbal — Grammar rules + 2 RCs daily
- Week 4: Reasoning — Full mock test daily
- Week 5–6: Coding — 10 LeetCode problems/week, 2 TCS NQT mock coding problems/day
