ATS Rule #3: Standard Section Headings

Use these exact headings: "Education," "Work Experience," "Skills," "Projects," "Certifications." ATS looks for these standard headings. Creative headings like "My Journey" or "What I Know" confuse ATS parsers. Standard = better.

ATS Rule #4: File Format

Submit as .docx or .pdf. Never submit as image PDF (scan), HTML, or .pages. When in doubt, .docx is more ATS-compatible than .pdf (some older ATS cannot parse PDFs correctly).

How to Write a Fresher Resume That Gets Through ATS

Header: Name, phone, email, LinkedIn URL, city. No address needed. Summary: 2–3 sentences with your stream, top skills, and job intent. Include the role name as a keyword. Education: University, degree, CGPA, year. If CGPA < 7.0, add relevant coursework instead. Projects: 2–3 projects with name, tech stack, description (2–3 bullets with impact). Skills: List all technical skills in keyword-friendly format. Certifications: Include with issuer and date.
